2023 IMPRS-IS Brainstorming + Planning Session

IMPRS-IS holds an annual boot camp for scholars. In an effort to make this experience as beneficial and rewarding as possible for our community, we ask that our faculty and scholars join us for an on-site planning session to help design the 2023 boot camp.

Time: 9:30 - 11:00 CEST
Locations: MPI-IS Tübingen and MPI-IS Stuttgart (choose the location most convenient to you)

We always receive tremendous feedback about the boot camp following the event. This year we thought, why not ask our community for planning suggestions prior to holding the event? 

Additionally, a big change is coming to this year's event -- We will hold this year's boot camp on-site in Tübingen and Stuttgart!

Although we love taking our community off-site to create new connections and foster scientific exchange, we think a local boot camp here in Cyber Valley can achieve many of the same goals while providing other benefits. Specifically, we believe this format can allow for an improved ability to:

  • see the amazing research being done in IMPRS-IS, including lab tours and demos
  • share our campuses with one another after the isolating times of the pandemic
  • highlight the incredible scientific amenities available to our researchers
  • allow more faculty and associated faculty to join in the fun
  • simplify participation for scholars with family responsibilities
  • introduce scholars to other community members such as the MPI-IS central scientific facilities (ZWEs), international officers, HR representatives, and more
  • include more IMPRS-IS associated students in the boot camp
  • let participants sleep comfortably at home in their own beds
  • reduce the environmental impacts and financial costs of the event

The boot camp will still feature our favorite components. In addition to scientific talks, poster sessions, and panel discussions, we will take time to connect with fun outings and activities. 

The dates of the 2023 IMPRS-IS Boot Camp have not changed. Please continue to block Wednesday, September 13, through Friday, September 15, 2023. 

We want to make the most of this new on-site opportunity, creating a rewarding, memorable, and fun experience. To do this, we ask for your help! Please share your ideas and feedback at the boot camp brainstorming session.
