The International Max Planck Research School for Intelligent Systems is governed by an executive board consisting of seven faculty members spanning the core research fields pertaining to IMPRS-IS. Three of these board members take on additional duties serving as a spokesperson or deputy spokesperson to represent one of the program's three institutions.
The International Max Planck Research School for Intelligent Systems (IMPRS-IS) has four student representatives who convey the opinions, concerns, and ideas of their peers to the program's executive board and coordination office. Scholars can reach out to any representative for support as needed.
Each year, scholars nominate four student representatives, with one representing each IMPRS-IS research site. Among them, one is designated as the overall student representative, who participates in all IMPRS-IS executive board meetings to advocate for scholars' views. Below is the current list of representatives.
It’s not unusual to feel sad, anxious or more emotional at times — that’s a normal part of life. However, when your feelings affect your ability to function at home or work or impact your relationships, it can be essential to seek help. If you're struggling with the loss of close family members, relationship issues, social or financial issues, loneliness, fears of failure, a lack of self-esteem, feelings of guilt, or a depressive disorder, you should think about seeking professional advice. IMPRS-IS community members interested in accessing such resources should refer to the information provided for their workplace.
Ombudspersons offer all our scientists an opportunity to receive confidential advice in cases of conflict related to integrity and good scientific practice. Conversations with the ombudsperson are treated as confidential. MPI-IS Ombudspersons are resources for all IMPRS-IS community members. Our partner universities also have Ombudspersons to represent students and faculty.
MPI-IS GEP Officers ensure that the standard principles of equal opportunities are put into practice. They serve as the first contact person for co-workers in all matters of professional promotion and help to eliminate any discrimination. They are involved in all personnel, organizational and social measures affecting equal opportunities for men and women, balancing of family and gainful employment, and protection against sexual harassment in the workplace. GEP Officers should be contacted regarding matters of sexualized discrimination, harassment, and violence.
If you are an IMPRS-IS community member with severe disabilities and feel discriminated against due to your status, you may contact the Representative for Individuals with Severe Disabilities. Please refer to the resource provided for your workplace.
