Due to the large number of international scholars at IMPRS-IS, we want to offer free German courses for our entire community! These courses will begin in fall of 2020. You can find more details on the courses here.
While living in Germany, basic language knowledge is needed to integrate in the community. Additionally, scholars may wish to present themselves and their work in German. To support our Ph.D. scholars, IMPRS-IS will be offering German courses beginning in the fall of 2020.
We previously administered a survey to our community in order to gauge interest and better understand the needs of our community. As a result of this survey, we have determined that course contents will be tailored to new learners with emphases on basic day-to-day communication and scientific discussion (e.g. How to give a demo of your work in German).
The survey also showed there was a greater number of interested participants in Tübingen. In order to meet this demand, we will be offering two courses at MPI-IS Tübingen and one course at MPI-IS Stuttgart. Logistical details for the courses are as follows:
MPI-IS Stuttgart - starting September 29, 2020.
Beginner/Entry level German: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 - 10:00am - during the winter semester.
MPI-IS Tübingen - starting September 14, 2020.
Entry level German (no prior experience needed): Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30am - 10:00am - during the winter semester.
Beginner level German: Mondays and Thursdays from 10:30am - 12:00pm - during the winter semester
