Film Screening: Picture a Scientist

Picture a Scientist is a 2020 documentary on gender equality inside science. The movie tells the stories of several prominent female researchers, and brings to light the barriers they encountered, including cases of discrimination and harassment. IMPRS-IS will offer a screening of this film with a following panel discussion for our community members.

IMPRS-IS would like to invite you to a screening of “Picture a Scientist” (trailer & info) on Thursday, April 29 at 3:30 p.m.

The screening will be followed by a short panel discussion and open conversation on the important topic of equal opportunities and diversity in science. We are very pleased to have two accomplished senior scientists take part in the panel:

Isabel Valera is a Full Professor of Machine Learning at the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, and leader of Probabilistic Learning Research Group at the MPI-IS in Tübingen.
Christoph Keplinger is Director of the Robotic Materials Department at the MPI-IS in Stuttgart.

The number of tickets is limited and registration is on a first come, first served basis and is open until 24 hours before the event.
